Prof. Ji Jia-Fu is a famous expert on gastrointestinal surgery in China, and has a broad background in oncology, with specific training and expertise in this research area. As a M.D. in Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, China, Prof. Ji carried out some scientific research about cancer early diagnosis and treatment. At Stanford University, from 1998 to 2000, as a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Ji expanded his research to the gene expression profiles in many kinds of cancers including human gastric cancer.

After that, Prof. Ji established the first tumor tissue bank in Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, which is now one of the biggest and most standardized biobank in China with about 14,000 tumor tissue samples including multiple cancer types. At present, Prof. Ji is the director of Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, the vice president of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), the president of Chinese Gastric Cancer Association (CGCA), the vice president of China Medical Biotech Association (CMBA), national member of Chinese Surgical As- sociation of China Medical Association (CMA), vice president of Gastrointestinal Committee of CMA, and Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO). He also is a fellow of American College of Surgeons (ACS), the council member of International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA), the standing member of Asian Surgery Association (ASA), the member of International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO), and European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism.

Prof. Ji successfully administered several Chinese national projects which are supported by grants from Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, including the National Key Technology R&D Program, the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the National Basic Research Program (973 Program) and the International S&T Cooperation Program of China, and grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China. And thus, he has got the first prize of CACA (2014), the second prize of the China International Exchange and Promotive Asso- ciation for Medical and Health Care (2013), the Award of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association for Excellent work (2007 & 2012), the Federation of Beijing Trade Unions for Economic and Technological innovation

(2004), and. Prof. Ji’s career has been dedicated to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of gastric cancer and the translational research in the field, and his achievements have been published over 150 papers in international academic journals, wrote and compiled 8 books.
